Description:

This recipe describes how to take the polarization sweep measurement at flattop.

Process:

Take sweep measurement is mcu easier now. You just select "Profile By Sweep" type in the Target Measurement tab. The parameters will set automatically for you. You can do emittance measurement after or before. The following instruction is obsolete now, but they are here just in case.

1. Take an emittance measurement before a series of sweep measurement. Don't do it again until you finish the sweep measurements ( 5 or 20 of them), as the parameter change described here will make the emittance measurement not possible.
2. Change the Retraction of target timing on pet/AGS/Polarized_protons/CNI_target. Near the bottom of the pet page, change the Retraction "Delay from source": from 1820000 to 2420000 (note how many zeroes!).
3. a) For vertical target2, change park2 position from 194000 to 192000. Change rotary velocity from 20000 to 5000. On PolarControl, change peak position to 185000.
. b) For vertical target1, change park position from 98000 to 99500. Change rotary velocity from 20000 to 5000. On PolarControl, change peak position to 106500.
c) For horizontal target1 & 3, change park position to 80000. Change rotary velocity from 20000 to 6000. On PolarControl, change peak position to 88000.
4.Take 5 or 20 measurements with each target.
5. After the needed measurements done, reverse steps 2, 3 and 4. Namely:
change the Retraction of target timing on pet/AGS/Polarized_protons/CNI_target. Near the bottom, change the Retraction "Delay from source: from 2420000 to 1820000.
6. a)Change the vertical target2 park2 position from 192000 to 194000.
b) Chnage vertical target1 park position from 99500 to 98000.
c) Change the horizontal target 1 & 3 park position from 80000 to 78000. Change rotary velocity from 6000 to 20000.
7 Take a new emittance measurement. The peak position should be updated automatically, but please check.
