The 10th ICFA mini-workshop on slow extraction

A workshop for slow extraction of beams from particle accelerators is being organized by Brookhaven National Laboratory on October 15-17, 2002. The meeting will be held on-site at Brookhaven National Laboratory and will be the 10th in a series of mini-workshops held under the auspices of ICFA. Topics will include low loss extraction techniques, bunched slow extraction, high frequency bunched slow extraction, instabilities, and spill structure correction systems.

Among the issues planned to be discussed will be:
  1. Hamiltonian dynamics
  2. high energy, high intensity, low loss extraction
  3. crystal extraction schemes
  4. high field and novel designs of electrostatic septa
  5. bunched extraction near and below the transition energy
    (high intensity-brightness beams)
  6. high frequency bunched extraction
  7. fast-slow extraction (extraction in 2-10 turns)
  8. stochastic slow extraction
  9. beam instabilities and spill structure correction systems
  10. computer codes, tracking
