About Pulsed Power Group

The Pulsed Power Group is headed by Dr. Arlene Zhang. Responsibilities are to design, construct, improve the critical pulsed power supplies in the C-A complex.

The group has successfully completed some very challenging projects, such as AGS Injection and Extraction Kicker systems, G-2 Kicker System, H10 Septum Power Supply, RHIC Abort Kicker system, SNS Extraction Kicker system, etc.

Pulsed power refers to the technology whereby energy is accumulated over a relatively long period of time, and then released in a short period of time to deliver very large power pulses to a given load.
